The Liposuction Procedure
Before The Procedure
You must undergo an initial consultation with Dr. Salgado before your surgery. This will allow Dr. Salgado to assess the excess amount of fat in your body and determine which liposuction technique is best suited to your needs.
Dr. Salgado recommends being within 25 – 30 pounds of your ideal weight, with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30.
If this is not the case, then a more comprehensive weight loss plan will be arranged for you that may involve bariatric surgery if needed.
During The Procedure
Liposuction usually takes an average of 1 – 4 hours to complete under local or general anesthesia. Incision lines are marked around the targeted areas of your body. A cannula is then inserted through the incision lines to safely remove excess fat.
Dr. Salgado will place drains when necessary into your body in order to prevent fluid build-up and other complications. Once the appropriate amount of fat has been removed, incision lines are closed with dissolvable sutures.
Techniques
Suction-Assisted Procedure
The original and most common technique. This treatment uses a tumescent solution injected into the fatty areas following by suctioning of unwanted fat to effectively remove these sections from the body. The procedure will be performed in such a way that wanted anatatomic descriptions like the midline linea alba and a six-pack appearance to your abdomen may be created for a more youthful and athletic appearance.
Ultrasonic-Assisted Liposuction (UAL)
